Our story
In 2008, the government pioneered an initiative to provide the same affordable access to premium educational resources for schools that universities had been enjoying.
The initiative was a success, with ongoing demand across the UK for academic e-resources to support teaching and learning in schools at specially negotiated prices.
When government funding ended in 2010, JCS Online Resources was launched as an independent enterprise, and since then, the JCS subscription service has grown to include schools worldwide. Today, over 2000 schools globally enjoy nearly 5000 subscriptions to high quality, curriculum aligned resources.
In addition to our core service to schools, we also provide resources for Further Education colleges in the UK, and public libraries in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
About our founder
Joyce Martin began her career in teaching before moving into the public sector. She led several national initiatives to promote e-learning across UK higher and further education institutions, as well as schools.
Prompted by the extraordinary growth of the internet as an information source, Joyce left her public sector career in 2010 to establish JCS Online Resources. Since then, the company has continued to develop her strong commitment to ensuring that schools have access to trusted digital content for their students, and are not reliant on content from the open access internet.
