The need for trusted e-resources from academic publishers is more essential than ever in this increasingly complex and challenging digital world.
That’s why at JCS Online Resource we negotiate with publishers the best licensing terms and subscription rates for e-resources to help schools afford a well-resourced online library available 24/7.
Schools across the globe use JCS to subscribe to quality academic resources in one convenient central place and appreciate our efficient and friendly service.
The introduction of such e-resources has meant a culture change in schools and not least for libraries and librarians. Therefore JCS has become increasingly involved in providing support and advice about the importance of trusted sources, the risks and opportunities of digital technologies, and the need to provide students (and staff) with appropriate guidance and skills.
- We save our customers money by negotiating best subscription rates with publishers
- We save our customers time by providing a centralised subscription service
- We provide excellent service and support
- We promote awareness of the importance of digital literacy and using trusted sources
Our story
The JCS story goes back to 2008 when a Government quango funded JISC Collections to extend its negotiations with publishers and a centralised subscription service for UK Higher Education to UK schools sector. This initiative was a success seeing an ongoing demand for academic e-resources to support teaching and learning at specially negotiated prices.
When the funding ended in 2010, Project Director, Joyce Martin thought it so important this service to schools continues that she established JCS Online Resources as her own business. A necessary move from almost 30 years in the public sector supporting e-learning in education.
